FIFA is Going Full Web3
FIFA, one of the biggest sports organizations in the world, has announced four new partnerships, all of which involve web3 gaming.
FIFA cut ties with EA earlier this year, but it still plans to work with gaming companies on new football video games.
And now, they have their sights set on blockchain gaming.
FIFA has partnered with four companies:
1/ Uplandme
FIFA will use Uplandme’s Metaverse platform, Upland, to add official FIFA World Cup NFTs that will include video highlights.
2/ Matchday
This is going to be a blockchain-based “social prediction” app that uses digital trading cards.
These cards will allow players to predict the outcome of football matches.
3/ Phygtl
Phygtl is a blockchain augmented reality app (AR) that players can use to own a “limited fragment” of a digital object.
4/ Altered State Machine
FIFA will partner with this company to create AI League: FIFA World Cup Qatar Edition.
It’s a 4-on-4 casual football game.
Each player is an AI-controlled character, and every user will have input at crucial moments.
Also, FIFA chief business officer Romy Gai has said that web3 “will have an important role to play” in their gaming strategy.
